Nuby: Thirsty Kids Range - Review & Giveaway

I don't think anyone can prepare you for how much worrying you'll end up doing once you become a parent. I mean I'm sure someone probably mentioned it to me before the boys came along, but back then I was too busy kidding myself that I'd be one of those laid back, carefree mums... And yet here I am four and a half years down the line, constantly worrying about my boys!

One of my first real 'mum worries' was whether Finley was drinking enough water after he'd started weaning. If you read my last post then you'll remember that we really struggled to get him to use a sippy cup and spent months offering different ones until we eventually found one that he liked. That first cup was made by Nuby and since then we've remained really impressed with their products.

Fast forward to now and Nuby have just released a brand new range of cups! Their new Thirsty Kids range not only helps to make hydration fun for children but also gives parents a clear indication of how much they've had to drink.

I was really excited to hear that there are so many different styles featured in the range (hopefully that will be a huge help to any parents going through the same struggles that we did!) and even more excited when the boys were asked to try two of them out.

The boys were lucky enough to be able to choose their new bottles. Finley went for the 'Mighty Swig' which has a handle and a bite resistant flip-up straw, making it great for active kids. He's always on the go at pre-school and needs something that he can grab quickly while he's playing so this is absolutely perfect for him. The triangle design is really unique too and I love that it's easy for him to find amongst all his friends' plain coloured bottles.

For Jacob, I went for the '360 Wonder Maxi'. He's already got the hang of most beakers with a straw or spout so this is great for helping him learn how to drink from an open cup. This style also comes in a 'Mini' version which is smaller and has handles, making it easy for younger children to use.

The design of this cup is totally magic - it works just like any ordinary open cup and only releases liquid when pressure is put on the seal. When it's not being used, you can throw it around and tip it upside down and it stays virtually leak proof!

It also comes with a lid to keep the mouthpiece clean and stop any accidental spills. Speaking of cleaning, it's worth mentioning that the whole cup comes apart at the push of a button so you can give it a thorough clean. Nuby also sell replacement inserts so there's no need to buy a whole new cup if it starts to look a bit tired.

We recently road tested the boys' Thirsty Kids cups during a trip to our local park. Given that it was such a hot day, I wanted to make sure that they stayed hydrated (cue those mum worries creeping back in!) so we stopped for a drink in a shady spot.

Both boys were really thirsty after running around playing in the park and couldn't wait to use their new cups. Jacob was even more excited about his when he spotted the dinosaurs on it (he's a big fan of dinosaurs at the moment and loves embarrassing me by practicing his loud 'roar' noises in public...!)

The boys both found the cups really easy to use. Jacob took to the 360 Wonder Maxi instantly and although he only had a few sips whilst sitting down, it was a good size for him to carry around with him when he went back to playing. The whole range is made from Tritan (a BPA free, impact-resistant material) which makes the cups super strong. Jacob certainly put this to the test - in typical toddler fashion, his cup ended up being dropped and thrown several times but survived without a scratch.

Finley loved the design of his Mighty Swig and spent ages inspecting it. It has a valve in the straw to stop it from leaking which I thought might make it tricky for him to use but he proved me wrong and downed most of his water in a few gulps!

It was so reassuring to know that the boys were well hydrated when they were ready to get up and carry on playing. I'm genuinely really impressed with these cups and would totally recommend Nuby's Thirsty Kids range to anyone. All of the cups are sturdy, stylish and with so many different types to choose from, you're bound to find one that your little one will like.
