Maternity Style: Rock Chick

As part of my series of fashionable, affordable maternity looks, I thought I'd go down a slightly more alternative route. Whether it's on trend or not, I've always loved the 'rock chick' look, so here's my pick of what the high street has to offer for us pregnant gig-goers and festival fans at the moment:

1. Grey maternity t-shirt - £9.99 (New Look)
This plain tee with a black leather-look trim around the neck is the perfect combo of comfy and stylish.
I'm a big fan of anything that can be dressed up or dressed down with minimum effort and this top ticks all the boxes, making it a great addition to your maternity wardrobe.

2. Silver rhinestone arrow necklace - £15.00 (Topshop)
A piece of statement jewellery is a great way to glam up an otherwise fairly plain outfit and, let's be honest, nothing screams 'statement' like some big silver spikes! This necklace is fab and is great way of accentuating all of this outfit's little silver details.

3. Black over bump maternity leggings - £12.00 (Next)
I've practically lived in maternity leggings over the last few months and genuinely believe that they're the comfiest items of clothing in the world! Not only are these super soft, super stretchy plain black leggings a must-have for every maternity wardrobe, they also suit this rock chick look down to the ground.

4. Gunmetal spike earrings - £3.00 (River Island)
These cute little silver spike earrings are a bargain at only a few pounds. They're also a great way of matching that statement necklace without drawing any attention away from it, although if you really want to glam up this look then you could always replace these with something a bit more eye-catching!

5. Black messenger bag - £25.00 (River Island)
Becoming a mum doesn't mean you have to give in and get a 'mum bag' just yet (you know the sort - millions of pockets stuffed with every useful item under the sun!) especially when there are so many stylish alternatives out there, like this zip-covered messenger bag. It's practical, it's big enough to fit your hospital notes into and most importantly, it looks fab!

6. Black Converse All Star hi-tops - £47.99 (Office)
You can't go wrong with a pair of Converse, least of all these classic black and white hi-tops. Being flat means they're kind to your back and the long laces and canvas material makes them easy to adjust for those swollen feet. Of course if you're struggling to reach over your bump to tie up laces or simply want a rock chick look with even more attitude, then it's worth baring in mind that this outfit would also look great with a pair of black ankle boots!

7. Black leather look waterfall maternity jacket - £39.99 (New Look)
Last but not least, there's this gorgeous, flattering leather-look jacket... Because no rock chick look would be complete without one! The waterfall style of this jacket means that it sits beautifully around your bump, helping you to stay comfy and stylish even in the winter months.
